With over a decade of experience in K-12 education, Christina Carter has held a variety of roles, including Art and STEM teacher, Reading Specialist, Department Chair, and Instructional Coach. Demonstrating leadership in the classroom, she transitioned to administrative roles, serving as an Elementary Principal for grades K-6 before advancing to central office leadership as Director of Learning and Assessment.

Christina's extensive experience spans diverse grade levels, subjects, and instructional settings, including both suburban and urban environments. In her most recent role, she led efforts to recruit and retain a diverse workforce, overseeing the organization’s hiring practices while balancing other senior leadership responsibilities. Through her strategic initiatives, she helped increase the organization's diverse applicant pool by 29% in just one year.

Dr. Melissa Figueroa-Douglas brings two decades of experience in education and leadership, with a strong focus on advocating for diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Her career, spanning New York, Delaware, and Pennsylvania, fuels her passion for driving positive student outcomes and informs her current role as Equity and Advancement Officer. In this position, Dr. Figueroa-Douglas leads the district’s equity initiatives by collaborating with central office leaders, school administrators, teachers, students, and community stakeholders.

A key aspect of her work is developing a student-teacher pipeline in partnership with a respected university—an initiative that addresses the national teacher shortage and reflects her deep commitment to creating sustainable pathways for future educators.
